The Right Way to Relocate a Vending Machine

Vending machines look like simple boxes, but a full-size snack or drink unit can weigh 600 to 900 pounds and stand over six feet tall. That combination of weight and height is exactly what makes an untrained move dangerous — both to the machine and to the people moving it.

The golden rule is to keep the machine upright at all times. Tilting a refrigerated vendor too far can drive compressor oil into the cooling lines, and a machine that has been laid down needs hours to settle before it can safely run again. We use appliance dollies rated well above the machine's weight and never shortcut the angle.

Doorways, thresholds, ramps, and stairs are where most damage happens. We measure every pinch point in advance, protect floors and frames, and use stair-climbing equipment when a location has no elevator. Nothing about a move should be improvised on the day.

For multi-site rollouts — schools, campuses, office parks, and franchise chains — the logistics matter as much as the lifting. We sequence deliveries by route, stage machines when a site is not ready, and place each unit exactly where the operator wants it, leveled and plugged in.

A vending machine only earns money when it is in service. Our job is to shorten the gap between pickup and first sale: move it upright, place it precisely, level it, and hand it back ready to load and vend.
